Craftsmanship
The art of slow gold
Every ORO piece is born of eleven stages, seven hands, and a refusal to compromise on any of them. This is how we make jewellery that becomes memory.
We believe the weight of a gift isn't measured in grams. It's measured in the hours of attention the maker gave it — and that attention is something no machine can replicate.
The foundation
We start with the finest raw materials — not because we can, but because everything that follows depends on it.
904L Stainless Steel
Used by premier watchmakers like Rolex — 904L contains higher chromium, nickel, and molybdenum than common steels. The result is a denser, brighter, more corrosion-resistant base that polishes to a mirror finish.

- WeightSubstantial
316L Surgical Steel
The same grade of steel used in surgical instruments and medical implants. Nickel-free and inert — your skin will never react to it, even with daily wear in humid or saline conditions.
- AllergensNickel-free
- WearDaily-rated
- Sweat / waterResistant
22K Gold Plating
Our pieces are plated with 22K gold of the richest hue — warmer and deeper than 18K or 14K alternatives. A final platinum polish seals the surface, adding a layer that resists tarnish and fade for years with proper care.

Eleven stages, by hand
Every piece — whether it takes three days or three weeks — passes through the same sequence. Nothing is skipped. Nothing is rushed.
Cutting — the blank
Raw 904L or 316L sheets are laser-cut to the exact profile of the piece. Tolerance is measured in tenths of a millimetre. Off-cuts are reclaimed and recycled — nothing is wasted.
Forming — shaping the piece
The flat blank is pressed, bent, or rolled into its final three-dimensional form. For cuffs and kadas, a master shaper curves the steel to an exact radius and checks fit against a reference mandrel.
Filing — refining edges
Every edge is hand-filed to remove burrs, soften contours, and prepare the surface for polish. This is the stage that separates a piece that feels premium on the skin from one that doesn't.
First polish — base mirror
Progressive grits take the piece from raw to brushed to satin to mirror. A single kada passes through seven polishing wheels before it's ready for engraving.
Engraving — the personal mark
This is where the piece becomes yours. Names, dates, mantras, signatures, handwriting — executed by laser for precision, or by hand for certain scripts and calligraphy. Each engraving is proofed against your order before cutting begins.
Detail finishing — the pickle bath
The engraved piece is chemically cleaned to lift oils, oxides, and micro-residue from every groove. This ensures the plating adheres uniformly — no patches, no blooms, no shortcuts.
22K Gold plating — the colour
Pieces are suspended in our 22K gold electroplating bath. Temperature, current, and time are monitored manually. The plating layer is laid down atom by atom — thicker than flash-plated alternatives you'll find elsewhere.
Platinum seal — the protection
A micro-thin platinum layer is applied over the gold to seal the surface against oxidation, fingerprints, and fade. This is what lets ORO pieces hold their colour for years when cared for.
Final polish — the glow
A delicate cloth-wheel pass lifts the finish to its full lustre. Too aggressive and the plating thins; too light and the piece looks dull. This is judgment work — done by a master finisher, not an apprentice.
Quality control — eleven checks
Every piece passes through an eleven-point inspection under magnification: engraving accuracy, plating uniformity, edge finish, weight tolerance, and more. Any piece that doesn't pass is remade — no exceptions.
Packaging — the gift itself
Wrapped in ORO's signature pouch, placed in the deep navy architecture box, accompanied by a handwritten note on ivory card and the certificate of authenticity. Only then does the piece leave our workshop.
The eleven checks
Before any ORO piece is packaged, it clears an eleven-point quality inspection — led by a human, under magnification.
Engraving Accuracy
Matched character-by-character against your order brief.
Depth Consistency
Every groove cut to identical depth across the piece.
Plating Uniformity
Gold coverage verified under bright magnification.
Edge Finish
No burrs, no sharp corners, no tooling marks.
Weight Tolerance
Every piece weighed to within ±2% of spec.
Dimensional Check
Length, width, and inner diameter verified.
Surface Lustre
Polish quality assessed in controlled lighting.
Final Wear Test
Cleaned, wiped, and inspected for hand-feel.
Three ways to inscribe
Depending on the piece, the text, and the language, we choose between three engraving techniques — each with its own character.
Precision Laser
Our most versatile technique — accurate to 0.01mm. Perfect for intricate mantras, small scripts, and photographic engravings where fidelity matters most.
Deep Diamond Etch
A rotating diamond stylus cuts visibly deeper grooves than laser — you can feel the text under a fingertip. Adds a tactile, heirloom quality to the piece.
Hand Calligraphy
For signatures, custom handwriting, and calligraphic scripts like Urdu Nastaliq or Devanagari. A master artisan transcribes the form stroke-by-stroke before cutting.
The hands behind every piece
Our workshop is staffed by a team of master artisans — most of whom have been with us for years.
Behind every ORO piece is a team of specialists — shapers, engravers, platers, polishers, and inspectors. We don't rotate artisans between stations. Each person masters their stage and stays there. A shaper with ten years of experience doesn't shape better than he did at five — but he shapes faster, more consistently, and with an intuition for when something is wrong that no training manual can replicate.
Most of our senior artisans learned their trade from family members. Some come from three generations of goldsmiths. What they bring isn't just skill — it's judgment. And judgment is what turns a piece from acceptable into extraordinary.
